Mommy & Me Session at the Oak Island Point

When Savannah reached out to me she requested a more natural and less posed session with her son, Tanner. Savannah wanted a session highlighting their special bond. She wanted all the kisses and snuggles to which Tanner said, “Absolutely not, Mom!” Tanner simply wanted to roam the beach, jump in the waves, and hunt for the perfect shells.

I am certain Savannah left thinking that I was only able to capture photos of Tanner exploring and playing on his own, rather than the cuddly or cozy photos as she had hoped. But, behind the camera I that wasn’t the case. I see a beautiful mother and her independent son who felt so loved that he could be free to explore the beach around him. I see a little boy who could play without worry knowing Mommy was right there, her hand always ready for him to hold. And when Tanner was tired at the very end of the session, he grabbed his best friend’s hand and walked with her until he needed to be carried.

Sometimes your  session can feel chaotic, especially with little ones. But please know that the chaos doesn’t translate into your photos. Trust that I am capturing moments that you may not even know are happening–whispering a secret, taking a hand, or brushing back hair. It’s the little moments that showcase your love and that translate into lasting memories
