My favorite place for a Parents’ Night Out would have to be The Grape and Ale. At first glance, I thought this might be just a little Island bottle shop. To my surprise, it’s so much more! Grape and Ale is a great place if you are looking for something different to experience. It is a fancier vibe than a classic “bar” atmosphere. There is an abundant selection of wine by the glass and 12 craft beers on tap to enjoy in house. Wine or beer can be purchased by the bottle or by the six/four pack to take home too. If you don’t drink alcohol, like me, no problem! This place offers a variety of sodas and non-alcoholic beer, so it’s a place for wine and beer connoisseurs and non-drinkers alike.
What I really love about the Grape and Ale is the fun (and free!) events on its adorable patio each week. They offer beer tastings on Thursdays, wine tastings on Fridays, and live music on Saturday afternoons. These events are packed even in the off-season, making it a fun atmosphere and gathering place to meet up with old friends or make new friends with the locals. PRO TIP: arrive early and grab a table before these events! Food is not available here, but you can bring your own snacks. So, pick up a pizza from Pepperoni Grill or order a sub from Oak Island Sub Shop and head on over to the Grape and Ale’s beautiful patio for a glass of wine or a pint and enjoy before the tasting begins!
