Oak Island Family Sunset Portrait Session

This is an exciting blog for me because this is my second summer working with this family. Last year, they were my first group over 8  people so I was really nervous to photograph them. On my drive to the Oak Island Point I tried really hard to remember everyone’s name and think of poses I could put them in. But when I met them, I instantly felt at ease. Their smiles took my nerves away, and we had a wonderful session. When they asked me to photograph them again this year, I was over the moon.

But this year, I was also nervous and anxious driving to our session but for a different reason – I was leaving my new daughter (who is proving to be one of those “difficult” babies I always heard about) and my two year old with my poor husband.

But, just like last year, the second we met up all of my anxiety went away. Especially when they told me, “We have added one more to the family.” A beautiful, sweet baby girl.

As the sun set, the session ended and we all walked back to the parking lot. I mentally transitioned back to mom mode. I wondered, “are the girls asleep? Did Erin take a bottle? Is my husband still alive?” And they told me to have a safe trip home, and to take the long way home to enjoy the break. A piece of advice I needed and very well accepted!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this family. They are fun, kind, silly, and I enjoyed every second that I got to spend with them. I am so thankful to work with them for a second time, and they already have me looking forward to next year!
