Gracan is just a burst of sunshine and joy. The warmth from her smile can be felt from another room. From the moment we met, I could feel her excitement for her wedding day with her future husband. The morning of her wedding, however, her smile was a little different. She was nervous and nothing seemed to distract her—not practicing her and her bridesmaids’ dance to Beyonce for the reception, not T Bloom trying to make her laugh while applying her makeup, not even the little lizard that snuck in the bridal suite to join in on the fun! She repeated over and over, “I just need to hold his hand.”
And when I took a moment to photograph him, Jon was nervous too, but in the most calm way. His smile stretched from ear to ear when I asked him to think about his bride.
As they finally stood back to back and could finally hold hands, Gracan’s nerves melted away. She and Jon made the most amazing promises to one another in front of their closest family and prayed for their future and for their love. There was not a single dry eye in the room. Gracan was right—she just needed to hold Jon’s hand.
From that moment on—being married by Jon’s father, dining with their guests, dancing the night away, and exiting under sparklers—Gracan’s smile was back and she radiated from the other side of the room! Two people, who couldn’t get better, did so by so beautifully bringing out the best in each other.
Gracan and Jon, I am SO excited for you and everything your future holds. Your faith, love and commitment to each other is something truly special and is sure to stand the test of time. The rest of your lives is finally here!
