The Oak Island lighthouse is my absolute favorite place for a photo session.
Logistically speaking, it is easy to find, there is always ample parking and it is pretty private. And while that makes the start of the session easier, that isn’t why it is my favorite. I love the lighthouse because of the picturesque setting. The large dunes on the way out to the beach, the boardwalks with benches, the sea grass leading out to the ocean all make the lighthouse the ideal location. There are endless beautiful backdrops for photos. No matter how bright the sun can be, or which way the sun is setting, there are always multiple great angles with a beautiful background.
And for most families, all they really care about is getting some nice photos of the ones they love in their favorite place, or so they think! A variety in backgrounds of your images is really important especially when you would like an album made, to or frame a collagen of photos on your wall. You want a variety of images that compliment each other, but don’t look identical. Choosing a location with a balance of greens, ocean, and wood can really enhance your gallery of images.
And the lighthouse offers all of that. If you ask me, being around such a tall, strong structure, as the waves crash on the shore and the sea grass dances in the breeze, it is the perfect peaceful place. Perfect for your photo session or just to visit and make memories.
